Joining a new forum is a scary experience. All those in-jokes, long time users and forum vets. Say hello here and tell us a bit about yourself.

I'll start.

My name's Red-Fred, I'm 15 and live in a village near Bath. There are lots of old people.

I am helping, in a vague way, Comrade Dirk set up this forum so might be a mod or something when we figure out how it works Smile

Art, english and politics are some of my favourite things. Oh and music. That's cool too.

My own views are a blend of lots of things I don't fully understand tbh - council communism, libertarian marxism and anarchism. Probably some less radical bits too.

Oh and I like the Guardian and possibly fit the reader stereotype a little too well...

Keep saying hello. We'll welcome all new comrades.

Hi all. I'm Comrade Dirk and i'm a libertarian socialist. Okay, that line made it sound like an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting but there you go.

I enjoy writing, political theory and punk music (though i listen to all sorts). I intend to share administrative duties with Red-Fred, so, any problems, just refer to us. By the way, whatever he tells you, it's thanks to him the forum exists at all and it was vey much a joint effort.

I'll say, in advance, it's good to meet you all, comrades. The forum is intended to provide a place to talk about issues from a leftist viewpoint with an emphasis of trying to get on with others on the left, which is important, considering our track record.

'Sup lads and ladettes (there are gonna be ladettes, right? Razz)

I don't call myself a socialist at the moment, too many connotations and I'm trying to convert people to my views before exposing them to the fact that they can be referred to by the 's' word (no, not that one Laughing ). I much prefer the term radical, since my favourite political theorist is Thomas Paine.

I'm in year 12, I'm majorly into music (punk and ska being the best). I'm looking into becoming a Mod because I'm just that awesome.

You two already knew all that, so I just wasted several minutes. Nice one Cool

The name's David and I'm an American officially. Personally I'm a secessionist and thus think of myself as a Floridian 1st.

Politicly I'm a Conservative Socialist and before anyone blows up their head trying to figure that out, don't. The term means exactly what it says. I'm pro-war, pro-gun, anti-abortion, anti-Big Gov't, pro-military, ect. I'm also pro-democracy, pro-worker control of the workplace, pro-public control of all non-personal (not to be confused with private) property (parks, roads, airports, ect.)

A Leftist conservative, get over it. Laughing

If you like. You could also potentially summarise some of your main political viewpoints or something.

Hurm. Well, I would SAY I would be a socialist, but I dunno if I am or if im just following the general attitude for a "rebellious teen" Razz.

Do you think so, or are you joking? And why do you think so?

Also, why do we need a Government? Doesn't that create positions of power, thus revoking the ideal of social equality?
